A Better Way for Ambitious Women in Leadership
Everywhere you turn you hear “the early bird gets the worm” … but you’re a night owl! A single mother with little to no support! Or you have a never ending list of responsibilities that keep you busy. The very idea of disrupting your patterns ultimately forcing yourself into a hustle-culture based schedule triggers core memories of past burnout.
But don’t worry. I’ve been where you are and in today’s post, we’re going to design a workday schedule that works for YOU! And not against you ….
The truth is, your secret sauce isn’t in mimicking someone else’s routines. Any circus monkey can do that. You find your secret sauce when you honor your unique talents, abilities, and gifts using them to create your unique system to “Get ‘Ish Done”.
But let’s be clear. Crystal clear. This isn’t about finding more hours in the day, it’s about making the most of the hours you DO HAVE but intentionality and focus.
Where energy flows, your focus will go.
Ever heard that quote? I’m sure you have. But have you ever taken a moment to really understand what it means? Simply put it means … what you choose to do on a daily basis determines your outcomes.
So, if all you’re doing is directing your energy to disrupting your natural patterns and rhythms … then guess what? You’ll focus on doing just that – disrupting your natural patterns and rhythms wondering why things aren’t working in your favor… (listen, don’t shoot the messenger ok?!)
Now what are you going to do fix this? Well, for starters assess where you’re spending your energy.
Over the next three (3) days don’t just track what you do. I want you to notice when you do it and how you feel while doing it. Why? A few reasons come to mind:
- You’ll identify what we call your Zone of Genius – it’s the time when you’re feeling the most clear and the most focused. When you’e operating in your power and not against it.
- Your Rest + Reset Zone becomes apparent. The point of the day when your energy dips and you need a dose of caffeine or an energy drink.
- Your Visionary Zone can then step out of the fog. You’ll notice when you feel creative and full of big ideas!
Know this and know this well. You weren’t meant to operate at 100% capacity all day, every day. Your body requires work, rest, and expression. And success requires you to honor those foundational rules. You cannot flow if your levels aren’t balanced …
Prioritization as a Protection.
You’re probably asking, “Coach Kendekka, how do I enter a state of flow, or of rhythm?” Don’t worry, I got you! Keep reading to find out more…
It doesn’t matter if you call this function flow, rhythm, cycle, or something else – the point is you need to understand how it works so you can operate within it to your advantage. Think of it like this, when you know your rhythm or cycle, then you know where to insert aligned tasks for maximum output. You move from being busy … to being effective.
Forget the never-ending To Do Lists that only leave you feeling like a failure. Let’s talk about a simple approach to success that protects your peace – I call it – The Daily Top 3 (aka The Power of 3):
Every morning … or the night before you go to bed … ask yourself this powerful question, “If I were to only accomplish three things today, what would make the biggest impact and at the same time give me the most peace?”
These are your NON NEGOTIABLES … your DAILY TOP 3.
This isn’t about doing more; it’s about doing what matters. For the melanated woman in high-powered spaces, this is a radical act of self-preservation. It’s you declaring, “My sanity is not negotiable. My peace is a priority.” Now I now you feel motivated and stuff… but let’s not forget what you’re going to do:
- Take your Top Three (3) tasks
- Place them into your Zone of Genius
- Watch how you execute with clarity and a sense of calm that hustle culture could never provide.
Get it? Got it? Good!
Take Action : Design Your Tomorrow, Today.
The goal here isn’t about perfection. It’s about freedom.
Today, before you log off from work. Or tonight, before you settle into your nighttime routines, I want you to do the following:
- Name your zones. Identify only one (1) Zone of Genius and one (1) Rest + Reset Zone for tomorrow.
- Choose your Top Three (3). Write down your three (3) tasks that deserve or require your focus and energy.
Wasn’t that simple? You’ve just taken the first step out of the grind and into your own power. This is what it means to lead differently. To live differently. This is the foundation of success on your own terms …. without burning yourself out in the process. It’s not complicated …
Are you in?
You just designed tomorrow. That took less than five minutes. And it is the most important thing you will do for your productivity this week. Not because the list is a “ritual”, but because you made a decision in advance instead of reacting in the moment.
That is what it means to lead differently. To stop running someone else’s schedule and start building your own.
If you are ready to take this further — to build the clarity, calm, and confidence that makes this your permanent operating mode instead of a good week — the community is where that work happens. Join us on Skool and see what is waiting for you inside.
